Session templates before a new wing opens
Lessons from capacity planning workshops in Vietnam on setting appointment session lengths before renovation dust settles.
Architects deliver beautiful rooms. They do not decide whether dermatology follow-ups deserve ten or fifteen minutes. That decision belongs to clinic directors — and it is easiest before the opening party, not after the first overloaded Thursday.
In Capacity Planning Workshops we ask each specialty to bring a draft template and one constraint they refuse to violate (for example, no double-booked procedure rooms). Paper sheets beat projected slides; people annotate what they will actually live with.
If demand assumptions are shaky, commission a short Capacity Review of the old wing first. Guessing into a larger floor plan only scales the guess.
